Ubon Ratchatani![]()
Ubon Ratchatani, the north-east's largest city, is located 270km from Nakhorm Ratchasima, and 560km from Bangkok. There are not many tourist attractions but this does not mean that Ubon is not worth a visit. It has several temples and the annual candle festival attracts many local visitors. This begins on Khao Pansa Day (in late July) and lasts for 5 days. Getting ThereAir-conditioned buses leave Bangkok's Northern Bus Terminal between 7.30am and 9.30am each day. The journey takes about 7 hours. An express train leaves Hua Lampong Station in Bangkok each evening and arrives in Ubon Ratchatani around 6.30am. Thai International have daily flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. Getting aroundBuses and songthaews are the best way to get around town.
