Beaches
Of the three resorts Hua Hin has the best beach. It is almost 5km
long and full of white sand and clear water which is ideal for swimming
as there are no scooter boats.
Horses are available and are a popular way to explore.
However if you really want tranquility head a little further south
to Ban Krud, which is located about 20 km before the provincial town
of Prachuap Kiri Khan. Take a left turn at the sign Krua Chom Warn and
about 5 km from the main road you will feel you are in another world.
The unspoilt beach, where the waves lap gently on the sand, stretches
for 5 km.
Shopping
All three resorts have many shops selling souvenirs, handicrafts,
suntan lotion and clothing etc. Decorations crafted from sea shells
are popular with many visitors.
Sight Seeing
Phetburi, 25km north of Cha Am, is an interesting place for a day
trip. It has many old temples which span several centuries. Six or seven
of them are within easy walking distance of the town centre.
13km south of Hua Hin are Sai Yai and Sai Noi beaches. Further south
is the town of Prachuap Khiri Khan which has some fine seafood restaurants.
Those interested in temples should visit Khao Krailat which is 6km south
of Hua Hin.
Inland from Hua Hin there is the Pa La U Waterfalls. The falls were
discovered a few years ago in the hills that form the border with Myanmar
(formerly Burma).
Chumphon has some fine diving sites with living coral and /underwater
caves. Several of the offshore islands are worth visiting, Koh Kai in
particular which has a fine beach and beautiful coral located in its
shallow waters.
